Australia: Exploring Sydney's Iconic Sights
What you have to know about Australia's cities is that they aren't as exciting as other cities I've visited on my travels. Melbourne has nothing too amazing, Adelaide has literally nothing and Sydney at least has things everyone knows about. If you're going to visit Australia in the winter time, you're probably not going to have the best time there. The weather that faced me in Sydney was hugely disappointing so maybe it's better in December. Australia does, however do better with its nature.
Of course, we all know about the iconic view of Sydney harbour in the vibrant gardens in the centre of the city. The point I was standing at is known as Mrs Macquaries point. The view is really cool but the actual opera house isn't much.
One of the most well known beaches in the world is known as Bondi Beach, it is in the suburb of Bondi a really unimpressive area to be honest. Not only that I'd say that Bondi Beach is no more special than Troon Beach. The weather wasn't letting up as well as it wouldn't stop being cloudy. I'd seriously ask what's so special about this place?
However, the good thing about Sydney is that you can find such an intense mix of different cuisines from around the world, you can find delicious Banh Mi in a Vietnamese bistro, something I can't find back home. Oporto is an amazing fast food place in Australia which is entered around Portuguese Peri Peri chicken. The options are endless. The best? Finding Irn Bru in Woolworths, not just the new Irn Bru but the original this was probably the best part of my time in Sydney.
Another thing I was glad to try out in Sydney is that I met a family friend who took me along to his local NRL team. It was the Cronulla Sharks v Melbourne in a very important match and through many lead changes the sharks won as the underdogs.
