A Reflection on 2019

Image
2019 was an insane year for me, I spent half of it doing the very thing I love - travelling the world and in September I started a new chapter of my life by starting university.  I started of the year by travelling through South-east Asia for the second time. Starting off with Thailand to take some time to relax, but also experience the insane nightlife. Then into Cambodia, my experience wasn't as positive as I would have liked it to have been as I got food poisoning and the organisation I was supposed to be volunteering was poorly organised, however I still had a fun time visiting the Angkor temples and partying in pub street. After that it was onto Vietnam, one of my favourite countries as the adventure from south to north gave me unforgettable experiences, even though I didn't really enjoy the aspect of being on an organised tour. Then Laos and back into Thailand, Laos had me in a bus going from the towns in a bus on windy roads on and the incredible place that is Vang Vieng...

My Top 10 Cities in the World (As of 2019)

Image
I have been to many cities in the world, that goes without saying, as a kid I had always been fascinated by urban architecture especially those of Asian cities. But what makes a city great? I have compiled this list of cities I've enjoyed, with loads of places to eat at and visit but also the safety and hospitality of the locals. I will first have three honourable mentions as there were too many for this list but my three are Rio de Janeiro, Buenos Aires and New York. 10. Hanoi, Vietnam Starting off with in my opinion, the best country I have ever visited and Hanoi has a great classical Asian vibe to it, there's plenty of places to eat, the lake is a nice and peaceful place. There's great bars where the beer is super cheap and you can have the time of your life. There's plenty of museums such as the Hanoi Hilton and also the Temple of Literature which I recommend paying a visit.  9. Istanbul Turkey Way back in 2015, I went to Istanbul with my dad and sist...

Dream Of Visiting Japan? This Is My Experience

Image
After an adventurous few days in Kyoto it was time to visit Hiroshima, I took the bullet train which isn't shy of a two hour journey. The Shinkansen railway is nothing short of excellent, it puts Virgin Trains to shame, a six hour journey on a Virgin train would be a two hour journey on a Japanese bullet train. To give some clarity on how to acquire a Shinkansen ticket, you cannot purchase online, you can simply buy it on a machine at the station right next to the gate and if you feel it will be busy you can buy it days in advance and pay on the machine. Arriving in Hiroshima and taking a walk through the streets it is obvious that the atomic bombing of the city was detrimental. Every single building in sight looked like it was built forty years ago or newer. Almost everywhere there are memorials dedicated to those who were killed from the bombing. It was obligatory for me to visit the Peace Park and the museum. The museum is something that you must visit as it will give you an u...

Japan A Dream Come True

Image
If you were to ask a twelve year old version of myself of where I'd want to travel to most he would instantly say Japan because I watched countless hours of anime and thought Akira was superior to Shakespeare. As I have grown up I've become less and less interested in anime and manga. Yet my fascination with Japanese culture still stands and it definitely felt good stepping out of the airport after having my bag searched by aggressive customs officers. My first stop was Osaka, this city is definitely worth stopping by to take a look at the Dotonbori district and Osaka castle. Wherever you go in Japan the food is incredible but I must warn you it is not cheap. Going to visit Japan is like landing on your friend's blue space with three hotels four hours into a Monopoly game. After an introductory day of Japan in Osaka, I headed over to Kyoto, it's good to know for if you're visiting Japan the the cities of Osaka, Kyoto and Nara etc are inter-connected with a rai...
