A Brief Time In Singapore

What I'd say about Singapore is that it is very unique compared to any other place I had visited. I arrived at 9PM and decided to get something to eat in Chinatown. The Singapore streets can be described as spotlessly clean and devoid of any chaos. Very contrasted to those of Bangkok and Rio de Janeiro. Not only is Singapore clean, it is also safe, you couldn't get robbed here if you tried.

So, what can you do for one day in Singapore? I got up at 10AM due to a late night and then took a Grab to gardens by the bay. Singapore has a reputation for being expensive but this journey merely cost $5. Gardens by the Bay is beyond words to describe, a cool building on the outside but inside it has a huge variety of trees and plants from all over the world. Probably the number one place to visit.

After that I went into Marina Bay Sands, this place was interesting to go inside of but unless you're rich you can't fully appreciate what it has to offer. It has high end shops as far as the eye can see and a room there is probably more than I could make in a year.

I took the MRT (metro) to Nando's, one of the only things I miss from home. The Singapore MRT is incredibly easy to navigate, cheap and convenient and when you buy a ticket it acts as an Oystercard. I went for a walk to get a view of the skyscraper scenery and found a place with a good view of Marina Bay Sands.

I then went over to a place a friend recommended to me, Haw Par Villa, this place screams WTF. Built by a Tiger Balm merchant as a way to teach children about Chinese mythology and has not really aged well, the condition of the sculptures, 30s music playing and lack of staff makes it look like it's been abandoned and gives of a Black Mirror vibe. The sculptures show people being murdered, people suffering in hell and just pure weirdness.

I took the MRT back to my hostel to charge my phone and then went over to Chinatown to have some of the local food, there is not really Singaporean food but more just Indian and Chinese food. Singapore is so compact that everything is crammed into a small area, there's literally the parliament building next to a club and then a plethora of huge skyscrapers.

After exploring Chinatown I went over to a bar to drink a Singapore Sling, would be a sin not to I guess, however, the drinks at the bar are very expensive, a beer and a Singapore Sling is about £15.
