Chiang Mai and Back to Bangkok

After a long boat journey along the Mekong river and then continuously being on a bus I made it to Chiang Mai, Thailand's capital of the north. Chiang Mai is famous for its temples, I visited Wat Chedi Luang which is over 500 years old and is kept in its original condition, there is a temple next to it in which only men can enter, why because women menstruate! If you're visiting South-Asia you need to try Banana Nutella Pancakes that are made on the street for the price of 50p. The main part of Chiang is surrounded by walls and pigeons. After indulging in some Pad Thai at the night market I spent the evening watching Muay Thai fights. For about 1400 baht or £33 you can buy a VIP ticket which includes free and infinite drinks at the bar. The next day I was ready to take the 12 hour train journey to Bangkok.

When I arrived in Bangkok it was 6 in the morning, I took this opportunity to have a walk around in the hectic city. I decided to visit the MBK centre a huge shopping centre which has imitation markets inside of it, however I would say it is nothing special. I spent the whole day walking around the city in the exhausting heat and I must say it is hard to be there in the pollution. But thankfully there is Lumphini Park where can appreciate the greenery.

The next day I went to Terminal 21, this shopping centre is really cool as different floors are decorated with themes of different travel destinations, you can buy anything there, from brands like Champion and Puma to buying Bangkok souvenirs.

I then went to Wat Arun, what you must be careful with about Bangkok is the tuk tuk drivers are rude and will easily rip you off, on Grab it costs about 100 baht to travel there from the Khaosan road but a tuk tuk driver will try to get 500 baht off you. Wat Arun is a cool place to visit but is not the first priority of things you should see in Bangkok. Nonetheless it's a nice place to go during the sunset.
