A Brief Time In Singapore

Image
What I'd say about Singapore is that it is very unique compared to any other place I had visited. I arrived at 9PM and decided to get something to eat in Chinatown. The Singapore streets can be described as spotlessly clean and devoid of any chaos. Very contrasted to those of Bangkok and Rio de Janeiro. Not only is Singapore clean, it is also safe, you couldn't get robbed here if you tried. So, what can you do for one day in Singapore? I got up at 10AM due to a late night and then took a Grab to gardens by the bay. Singapore has a reputation for being expensive but this journey merely cost $5. Gardens by the Bay is beyond words to describe, a cool building on the outside but inside it has a huge variety of trees and plants from all over the world. Probably the number one place to visit. After that I went into Marina Bay Sands, this place was interesting to go inside of but unless you're rich you can't fully appreciate what it has to offer. It has high end ...

Chiang Mai and Back to Bangkok

Image
After a long boat journey along the Mekong river and then continuously being on a bus I made it to Chiang Mai, Thailand's capital of the north. Chiang Mai is famous for its temples, I visited Wat Chedi Luang which is over 500 years old and is kept in its original condition, there is a temple next to it in which only men can enter, why because women menstruate! If you're visiting South-Asia you need to try Banana Nutella Pancakes that are made on the street for the price of 50p. The main part of Chiang is surrounded by walls and pigeons. After indulging in some Pad Thai at the night market I spent the evening watching Muay Thai fights. For about 1400 baht or £33 you can buy a VIP ticket which includes free and infinite drinks at the bar. The next day I was ready to take the 12 hour train journey to Bangkok. When I arrived in Bangkok it was 6 in the morning, I took this opportunity to have a walk around in the hectic city. I decided to visit the MBK centre a huge sh...

One Week In Laos

Image
The 30th country I've visited is the incredible Laos, I spent a brief week here but got to see all the important places. I started off by flying into Vientiane, arriving in time to have a yellow curry for dinner and then the next morning I visited the Buddha park, a collection of statues relating to buddhism and had to wear jeans in the exhaustive heat. After that I made it to the national landmark of Laos which is the Golden Stupa and then went on to see the arch. I can't lie to you it is quite unremarkable in comparison to some of the things seen in this incredible country.  After that I got on the bus to be taken to Vang Vieng, before I go any further I must say that Vang Vieng has been one of the highlights of my adventure so far, the scenery will blow you away as it looks like what you'd see from movies set in rural parts of Asia.  Although the restaurant service in Laos is not brilliant because there it will take 40 minutes for food to come once you order it, my ...

Hanoi, One Of My Favourite Asian Cities

Image
If you are visiting Vietnam, you no doubt have to go to Hanoi and I visited during a very important time in terms of international politics, just before coming into Hanoi from a long train journey, I took a bus journey to take a second trip to Ha Long Bay, despite it being quite remote, seeing this place for the first time blew me away so I of course had to see it again. During my trip to Ha Long Bay I was asked by Chinese tourists for photos and due to the special event of Donald Trump Meeting Kim Jong Un, there were flags for the DPRK and USA everywhere in both Ha Long Bay and Hanoi. I even saw Kim Jong Un inside his car as he left Ha Long Bay. So, what makes Hanoi so special then? Hanoi is a great place for backpackers as there are countless bars to drink incredibly cheap beer, hell they even have the record for the cheapest beer at about 20p known as "Bia Ha Noi" and in my opinion it is delicious. Hanoi street food is actually appealing as the banh mi and rice p...

Nha Trang, Hoi An and Hue

Image
After a few days in Ho Chi Minh city I took the night train to Nha Trang, I was ready to expect the worst but it was actually great. Anything is an upgrade from Scotrail. There isn't anything too special for Nha Trang, it is a great place to go to the beach and is super cheap. At a back alley restaurant I was able to get Saigon beers for about 50 cents. Then I took the night train over to Da Nang and then the bus over to Hoi An, I'd say that Hoi An is bucket list level in terms of places to visit. This place is like the Venice of Vietnam and is a much needed break from all the horrific traffic. It is very hard to get a picture taken in Hoi An because there are so many cool buildings in the area to take a picture of. You Really could take 1000 pictures here What makes Vietnam great though is the huge variety on food depending on where you go, in Ho Chi Minh City you will be able to buy really good pho and a beer for about 3 quid. In Hoi An you can have a dish ...
